A Brief History On a cold winter night in 1995 a group of committed Christians expressed the desire to worship together on Sundays in an Episcopal Church in Mukwonago Wisconsin. A meeting with Bishop White took place and permission to form a fellowship was granted. A priest and worship space were found and on Palm Sunday in 1996 the first service of the Episcopal Church of the Resurrection was held. After several years of hard work Resurrection was approved by the 1998 Diocesan Convention to become in full communion with the Diocese. The Episcopal Church of the Resurrection first met at the Masonic Temple on Main Street in Mukwonago. After a number of years the people felt the need to move into a more "church like" setting and the people of Mt. Olive Lutheran Church became our landlords. As both Mt. Olive and Resurrection grew a need arose for us to look for a new worship space. The congregation of the United Church of Christ with their building on NN met our needs and we entered into an agreement with them which continued to help us grow. An opportunity to have our own building came about in 2007 and the Episcopal Church of the Resurrection was able to purchase the Universalist Building on Main Street bringing us back to downtown Mukwonago and next door to where we first met in 1996. Resurrection continues to grow and hopes that you will visit us and join in our worship community.
A New Beginning
After meeting at the Masonic Lodge, Mount Olive Church, and the United Church of Christ, the people of the Episcopal Church of the Resurrection found a home in their own building. On May 13th, 2007, they held their worship service in their newly acquired historic church building located at 216 Main Street. The youth of Resurrection played important roles in the service leading prayers, reading lessons, and assisting at the Eucharist.
